The ruins of the ancient town are situated in the center of the northern coast of the island. The buildings have been built of sandstones and some plaster layers on their walls. The area is about 3 kilometers with remarkable brick and block structures which probably belong to Sasanid period actually the age of Harireh town is estimated to be 800 years old. The tourism magnet in Talesh, Gilan Province, north of Iran, clasps nature devotees. Gisum, where forests and sea meet, is an enchanting sight with almost no parallel in the country. Non-touristic destination is undoubtedly an extraordinary target for sightseers who hate crowds. The paved asphalted route presents a peerless driving experience; going through a corridor encircled with lush trees in a car with windows down means a joyous trip which ends up in the beaches of the gorgeous Persian Sea. Driving through a tunnel lined with abundant trees, you will experience a sense of exhilaration and delight. A location for many Iranian films, the atmospheric scene, unimaginably, brings you lots of pleasure and thrill. A charming spot for photographers, Gisum is a worldly paradise. At 80 hectares, the forests boast profuse trees and remarkable plant species from wooden to herbaceous, much similar to species in Anzali Wetlands. Fig trees are also of note here.

In the park facilities are available for travelers: from ample parking lot, kids’ playground, sports club, camping site, to hotels and villas, and hiking sidewalks they all make for a memorable journey. Box tree forest on east side along with flowers and plants museum will be a good cap off for your visit. With out-of-this-world landscapes in different seasons, it is a must-see place all year round.

Among things to do here are: strolling along the tranquil beach filled with smooth sand stones is a favorite thing for some tourists. Jet skiing is an exciting part for youngsters. Other water sports are also practiced here.  There is, furthermore, biking trails for fanatic bikers. Watching the herds of horses in daytime is a sight which shouldn’t be missed. Rudkhan Castle or Hesami Castle is the name of a historical castle, 20 kilometers from the south west of Fuman in Gilan Province. Some experts believe that the castle was built in Sassanid period at the time of Arabs attack to Iran. This castle is located at a height between 665 to 715 meters from the sea level and a river with the same name runs beside it. It was recorded in the list of national and historical monuments list of Iran with number 3/1549 as one of the historical monuments of Iran for its historical value and its structure, architecture and strategic as well as martial properties.

Chamkhaleh beach is one of the most beautiful and most equipped and also the least risky beach of the country which was selected as the best beach of Gilan province by the Ministry of Interior in 2011. The best attractions of Chamkhaleh beach is the enormously beautiful sand beach and the large river of Chamkhaleh. This beautiful area is the closest beach to Langeroud and is considered as one of the touristic areas of Gilan province.

Among all traditional and unspoiled mountain village in Province of Gilan, Masule is the most beautiful one. It was founded in the 10th century. The village is 1050 meters above sea level in the southern coast of the Caspian Sea. The village has a difference in elevation of 100 meters formed by several irregular levels of terraced cream houses that appears to have grown out of its surroundings. The buildings have been built into the mountain and are interconnected. Courtyards and roofs both serve as pedestrian areas similar to streets. Yellow clay covers the exterior of most buildings in Masouleh which allows for better visibility in the fog. Masuleh is approximately 60 km southwest of Rasht and 25 km west of Fuman. The climate is cold in winter, with snow sometimes reaching three meters deep, but extremely pleasant and bracing in summer. There are four main local communities at the city named: “Maza-var” (meaning besides the Mosque) at the south, “Khana-var” (beside homes) at the East, “Kasha-sar” (stretched on top) at the North, and, “Assa-mahala” (Assad community) at the West. Apparently, downtown is Bazaar area and also the main mosque of the city built in 969 AD.

Products such as kilim (rug made of goat’s hair), Jajim (a carpet made of wool or cotton), Chamush (traditional shoes), clothes, knives and silk scarves are some of the items sold at the bazaar. The second most popular is the Saheb-az-Zaman Mosque, which dates back to the 12th century AD. One of the main shrines in Masouleh is Imamzadeh ibn Ali, called Qalandar Khaneh by locals, a term that dates back to the Safavid era (16th century) and means home of a wandering dervish. This beautiful shrine has an octagonal structure and the door, made of ebony, is carved with impressive designs. Inside the shrine is a 1,200-year-old inscription with verses from the Holy Qur’an.
